About Our ​Moderator

Aisha Deberry

 

Aisha I. DeBerry, a Memphis native raised in Jackson, Mississippi, has a deep love for the arts and a strong passion for business, logic, and justice. She earned a degree in Economics from Northeastern University, which led her into entrepreneurship before pursuing a J.D. at Lincoln Memorial University, where she served as president of the Black Law Student Association.

 

With a dedication to human and civil rights, she has worked as a mediator, juvenile legal intern, and diversity leader in both government and corporate sectors. Aisha is also the founder of ADJ Consultants, author of The Diversity Digest, and co-host of the Dad Daughter Dialogues podcast.

About Our Panelists
Dr. Jennie Burnet

Jennie E. Burnet is a Professor of Anthropology and Director of the Institute for Women’s, Gender & Sexuality Studies at Georgia State University. Her research explores the social,
cultural, and psychological aspects of war, genocide, and racial violence and their long-term legacies in the lived experiences of victims, survivors, perpetrators, bystanders, rescuers, and their descendants.

 

She is the award-winning author of Genocide Lives in Us: Women, Memory and Silence in Rwanda (U of Wisconsin Press, 2012). Her new book, To Save Heaven and Earth: Rescue in the Rwandan Genocide (Cornell UP, 2013), examines how and why some Rwandans risked their lives to save Tutsi from the carnage. Her current research focuses on understanding the long-term impacts of racialized violence in the American South on affect, embodied memory, and political geographies.

Nadia Rahali

Nadia Rahali is the Director of The Loudermilk Center, a nationally recognized institution driving meaningful change through civic engagement, nonprofit collaboration, and philanthropic initiatives. With years of experience in convening diverse stakeholders, Nadia has been instrumental in elevating the Center's impact on communities across the country.

 

She is also the founder of Movere Alliance, a niche consulting firm dedicated to helping non-profit leaders unlock their full potential. Nadia holds a degree in Political Science and African American Studies from Old Dominion University and has furthered her expertise with a certification in Sustainability Strategies for Industries from MIT.
