Hello friends,
In the Minembwe and Itombwe Highlands, I am so sad to tell you that a silent genocide continues to unfold against this terrorized population.
Indeed, since the night of Thursday to Friday, February 20, 2026, Mikenge has been stripped of its population following drone and heavy military attacks that continue to ravage the Mikenge area and all the surrounding areas of Minembwe.
Mikenge has been an internally displaced persons (IDP) camp from 2019 until now.
All activities have been suspended. Most of Mikenge's inhabitants are in Kahwera, and a few have gone down to Minembwe town where they are staying with host families, along with those from Kalongi, Bidegu, Gitavi, and some villages in Ilundu. We are now living in unprecedented terror and desolation.
These are the women and girls who were injured by government drones.
The students and their parents are without any humanitarian assistance, having been abandoned and isolated by Burundian militias and the DRC’s rebel militia Wazalendo.
Please stop killing innocent people. You militaries fight amongst yourselves and stop bombing the innocent population.
I call for peace in the DRC in general, and in eastern DRC in particular, because life is more precious than minerals, whatever the price. We have been talking about this for so long. Please, STOP!
Stop killing, raping, and torturing, especially those wrongfully incarcerated in Makala prison, N'dolo prison, and throughout the DRC.
