Neema accompanied by a team made up of 5 SAFECO staff members went from 11:30am to 1:45pm to MONUSCO, in the rural commune of Minembwe, then at 2:00pm to the FARDC office, and at 4 p.m. to the police station based in Minembwe, to present civilities and announcement of their arrival in Minembwe. From 5pm to 6pm, Neema welcomed other women and men as seen in the photos. The welcome by all the peoples was a beautiful thing in an unparalleled atmosphere, where all the population of Banyamulenge are displaced from their heartland, and living as refugees in their own land around the UN bases. Neema shared in loving solidarity with their suffering and welcoming hospitality, including serving them all dinner.

Neema calls in for an update:

NB: MONUSCO’S interview relates not only to civility but also to the request aid by means of transport (air support) to Mikenge base and camp, to distribute blankets, DfG kits, and flour to displaced persons from Mikenge, from kahwera, and to displaced persons from Itombwe in Minembwe, especially the most vulnerable, particularly the old and the elderly, widows and the poor. They promised to speak to their hierarchy and give us the follow-up afterwards; MONUSCO had guaranteed the coordinator wifi and drinking water whenever she was in need of these services.
